At Blyth we believe that a global perspective and international collaboration are central to assisting our students to become valuable world citizens. Our community service programs offer students the opportunity to become engaged in communities abroad, volunteering their time to work on meaningful educational and environmental based initiatives, allowing them to learn first-hand about the world around them while also developing their independence, leadership and team-building capabilities, and having fun too!

“I had an amazing time on this trip. It really opened my eyes to the life that we have and not to take things for granted.”

Over the March Break, students in our programs volunteered abroad in Bhutan, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Here’s a recap of our March Break programs.

Our students have many different reasons for enrolling in these programs including a thirst for adventure, the desire to spark positive change, the fulfillment of high school community service requirements, or the self-discovery and leadership development of participating in a project abroad. Regardless of their reasons, these trips open the hearts and minds of all those involved. Students will leave the program having learned a lot about themselves, the world around them and having gained a new perspective on global issues.

Our community service work is carried out in collaboration with locally-based NGOs focused on the areas of education and the environment, and our agenda is driven by these local organizations. We ask our partners how and where we can be useful in an attempt to ensure that the work that we carry out is relevant and meaningful to the communities in which we are based.
